Anyone who has been following IPW has by now realised that MyHome.ie have taken action to prevent us generating reports based on their site’s property listings.
The steps they have taken could possibly be technically overcome but we feel they have made a clear statement about their strong desire not to be reported on.
When IPW first launched, we ran reports based on both MyHome.ie & Daft.ie. After a short period we began concentrating on MyHome.ie, as the data was far cleaner and less erroneous than that contained on Daft.ie.
We published our first Daft report back on March 20th 2007. We now expect to switch our focus back to Daft, as they have publicly stated that they have no issue with any site parsing their data.
Daft are quoted in the Irish Times article as stating “It’s information in the public domain so we don’t see why it should be hidden.” It is an interpretation that is obviously not shared by MyHome.ie.
