About

Put simply, this website will attempt to record any drops in the asking prices of Irish Residential Property.

I have been impressed with the diligent (although surely laborous) work of the good folks at both the Property Pin and the Irish House Prices Falling Blog. However, this website aims to help automate the process.

The initial plan is to publish (aprox. weekly) some simple reports detailing price drops (if any are detected) on the two most popular national property websites, www.myhome.ie & www.daft.ie.

I expect this website to be outmoded in the coming months by something a little slicker and more detailed, such as the recent plotting at the Property Pin, but until that time perhaps this site can help get the ball rolling re:automation of price drop detection.

    Hi

great site and a fantastic resource. Might add creditbility to your reports if you outline how you collate and compare the data

Ok I’m going to don my little tin foil hat here.. ;-) I’m not going to reveal this, at least not yet, because I believe that when you know how something is done.. it becomes easier to block/disrupt it. As those dudes in the old Drifter Ads would say.. d’you catch my drift? :-)

    Hello,

I’ve been following your blog for a little while and just wanted to drop you a quick note to introduce myself…

I’m with Properazzi.com – a new property search engine (yet another!). We’ll be launching formally in the coming days, although we’ve been around and in development for some time now. There’s an early beta version up on http://www.properazzi.com which currently lists about 1.3 million properties – please feel free to check this out. An enhanced version will be going up soon.

As I’m sure you’ve noticed there are a lot of property search sites out there. I guess what sets us apart is that our focus is all-European as opposed to national, so we’re treading some new ground in that regard. We’ll be introducing some (hopefully) exciting new features in the coming weeks and months. Any feedback is more than welcome.

I like the concept of your blog/website – I gather that you crawl myhome.ie and daft.ie for their price data? We also cover Ireland and are in the process of developing our stats collection. If there’s anything you’re involved in that I / we might be able to help out with, please feel free to drop me a line or give me a call. We’re based in Barcelona.

    Regards

    Tom

    Hi,

I am working on a documentary series for RTE ONE Television and would really like to talk to people who have had to reduce asking prices in the last few months. If you would like to tell me your story please email me at cridge@tyrone-productions.ie

    Thanks,

Hey, any chance of an RSS feed? As someone who bought off the plans a year ago and about to move into my new house, I’d be interested in keeping track of this! Not that it’ll bother me because my house is for living in, not for investment like a lot of houses in this country. I have no sympathy if investors get caught out because I think it’s them who have pushed prices out of reach of most ordinary punters. Now that the Republic market is cooling off, apparently a lot of the investors here are heading North of the border and raising the prices dramatically there.

  6. donal Says:

Ah, there is an RSS feed available at the .wordpress address. Sorry about that!

OH …my …god..what happened today? Have lost the will to live and search for cheaper property..

Are any of the creators of Irish Propery Watch available for interview?

Hi guys, thanks for the interest. However, currently IPW has no public opinion on the market.

    Good morning,
I am working for Sustainable Energy Ireland. We are currently working on creating a database which will store every renewable energy project in Ireland. We will start with the Bord Pleanala database which is available online. We would like to put in place a system which export authomatically the information we need, every time a new appeal (concerning renewable energy) comes in the bord database. I suppose it is what you are doing to collect data on daft web site. I would be grateful if someone could contact me in relation to that. Thanks

    Hi there…

very very usefult stuff going on on this website…..looking at buying very soon in newbridge kildare..

was already involved in a bidding war on a house(strange in current climate) i know….and the whole thing back fired…..house came on market at 380 and by 390 a lot of people left…then it was me and others, i bid 395, they 400, me 405 and auctioneer asked me was i sure….was rush of blood and i said of course i am(house on big site detached huge potential blah blah)…they went back to owner with the offer and he wouldn’t entertain us as we didn’t have confirmed mortgage backing from the bank which was never mentioned previously…effectively they used us to get an extra 10k out of other couple for the house….i was so annoyed at both auctioneer and owner but what could i do…especially sorry for other couple who paid 10k too much

now, my current problem is that the auctioneer has another house we interested in on market at 410 and she has idea of what i was willing to pay for another house..I want to just offer 381 to avoid stamp duty as 2nd time buyer status but I know she’ll tell client to hold off as they could push us higher…..i turned a buyers market into a sellers market…only fool in the ocuntry :(

    Hello,
I’m Ivan and I’m a journalist working for Belgian public television. I want to make an item for our news programme about the plummeting house-market in Dublin. Would anyone with personal experience in the matter be prepared to talk to us? Someone who bought a house a couple of years ago and saw the value decline drastically? Please call: 00 32 2 741 66 86, or email: ivan.ollevier@vrt.be

Why not invest in the South of France and go direct on the real estate website and not a search engine (they not check and a lot of property are sold) ? Invest in the south of France remains a sure value. My real estate agency is in Plan de la Tour, in Saint Tropez bay and look at website : http://www.expertimmo.co.uk
